PRESS RELEASE: Pittsburgh-Made Music by Burghsounds, 6/29/10

As part of an exciting and unique music related project entitled “A generous act,” the Mattress Factory Art Museum on Pittsburgh’s North side is collecting a library of music created by Pittsburgh musicians or music that was made in Pittsburgh. The museum is making a call for musicians and fans of music to lend the museum albums, singles, and EPs on vinyl and CD formats for the duration of the exhibition (July 18 – August 2, 2010). The collection of vinyl and CDs will be displayed for the exhibition and returned to the musicians and fans after the exhibition. The museum is requesting that the music is dropped off at the museum marked “ATTN: Curator Mark Garry”. Each person will be allocated a numbered ticket that they can use to collect their music after the show. The museum would like to have received all the music by Tuesday, the 13th of July, 2010.

The museum is hoping to acquire a diverse a collection of music as possible and would like to sincerely thank people in advance for helping make this a colorful and assorted archive.

    This should be a great exhibit at MF and a great chance to put a nice spotlight on local music and the wealth of it in this city.
